With the second rider now announced, the VFT Racing Team are back in World Supersport for the first time in five years, and back with a bang as they field two Italian youngsters

The 2021 FIM Supersport World Championship will soon be upon us and there is a whole host of rider changes up and down the paddock. However, there’s also a welcome return as the VFT Racing Team will make their come back to the class for the first time since 2016, fielding ex-Moto3™ World Championship rider Davide Pizzoli and the recently-announced WorldSSP regular Federico Fuligni.

Fuligni came into World Supersport in 2019 for the MV Agusta Reparto Corse team, and has enjoyed top ten finishes during his time with the iconic Italian manufacturer up until the end of 2020. However, for the new season, he moves to Yamaha YZF-R6 machinery for the first time in his career, bringing him a new challenge for the new campaign.

Speaking about his new venture, Fuligni said: "I’m extremely pleased and excited about this new adventure. I thank Fabio and Valerio Menghi for this great opportunity but particularly for the way they have welcomed me to the team, like part of the family. I cannot wait to be back on track and hope that we can do really well this season.”

Speaking about the signing of Fuligni, joint-owner Fabio Menghi stated his excitement of the year ahead: "We’re very happy to have another fast and highly motivated rider like Federico on board! We know he’s keen for a comeback and we’ll do all we can to give Federico and Davide everything they need to do well.”

Valerio Menghi also commented on the signing, saying: "We wanted to return to the Championship with two young, fast riders and we’re going to do just that. Federico has experience in the category, added value in a Championship that is set to be extremely hard fought. We’re sure that if we put him in the right situation, he’ll entertain a lot of people!”
